Patricia Giménez-Eguíbar

Patricia Giménez-Eguíbar is a Professor of Hispanic Linguistics at Western Oregon University. She earned her PhD from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2010 and holds two BAs in Spanish and Italian Philology from the University of Salamanca (Spain). Her research takes a socio-historical approach to language, with a particular focus on the evolution of the Spanish lexicon. She specializes in the study of Arabic influence on Spanish, language contact, and lexical change from the medieval to the modern period. Her work has been published in leading journals and edited volumes in Hispanic linguistics, and she is the author of the forthcoming monograph Historical Varieties of Spanish in the United States (De Gruyter). She has been invited to present her research at international conferences and has delivered keynote lectures on the history of Spanish and language contact. In addition to her research, she is actively involved in collaborative projects with institutions such as the Royal Spanish Academy and contributes to initiatives in digital humanities and historical lexicography.
